Immersive Cinema, Multi-Zone AV & Leisure Integration

The client wanted a collection of entertainment spaces that catered for every occasion - from immersive cinema and VR gaming to relaxed music listening, socialising, fitness and wellbeing - each delivering an experience tailored to its purpose.

Despite the technical complexity behind the scenes, day-to-day operation needed toremain effortless. The client specifically wanted tactile, button-based controlin preference to touchscreens, allowing every space to be used confidently byfamily and guests alike.

With multiple systems operating simultaneously across the basement, reliability was paramount. Every element of the design needed to deliver consistent performance while remaining straight forward to maintain and support over the long term.

At the heart of the cinema is a JVC DLA-NZ7 laser projector, discreetly housed within a Future Automation projector lift and partnered with a Lumagen Radiance Pro video processor. Projecting onto a 149-inch acoustically transparent screen, the system delivers exceptional HDR performance, outstanding contrast and cinematic scale, while the concealed lift mechanism allows the technology to disappear entirely when not in use.

A fully immersive 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos system was engineered around Paradigm loudspeakers, dual high-output subwoofers and Anthem processing and amplification. Every speaker was carefully positioned and calibrated to create a seamless three-dimensional soundstage, delivering exceptional clarity, dynamics and precision whether enjoying blockbuster films, live concerts or high-resolution music.

The heart of the basement was conceived as a flexible social entertainment space, centred around the bar and designed for everything from casual drinks and gaming to immersive VR experiences. Discreet architectural audio ensures music fills the room effortlessly, creating the perfect atmosphere for entertaining.

Entertainment extends beyond the social spaces into the gym, swimming pool and steam room, where purpose-designed audiovisual systems allow music and television to be enjoyed in even the most demanding environments. AquaVision waterproof displays, marine-grade loudspeakers and dedicated waterproof control interfaces were carefully specified to deliver exceptional performance while withstanding heat, humidity and everyday use.

Whether enjoying the client's extensive Plex movie library, streaming music or the latest online content, entertainment is available throughout the basement at the touch of a button. Built around Blustream video distribution, AudioControl multi-room audio and an Autonomic media server, the platform provides seamless access to every source in every space, delivering exceptional audio and video quality with effortless operation.

Rather than treating the basement as a single entertainment zone, each area was carefully tailored to its intended use. Even the snug behind the cinema benefits from its own independent audio system, allowing every space to deliver an experience perfectly matched to the way it is enjoyed.

A Crestron control processor forms the heart of the system, bringing every audiovisual system together within a single, intuitive platform. Wall-mounted iPads provide elegant, fixed control points while offering the flexibility to be lifted from their magnetic charging docks for portable use throughout the basement. Complementing these are RTI handheld remotes with tactile hard buttons, chosen specifically to suit the client's preference for physical controls over touchscreens.

Professional-grade AV distribution ensures every source is available wherever it's needed. Blustream video distribution, AudioControl multi-room audio and media servers provide seamless access to films, television and music throughout the basement, with the client's extensive Plex library fully integrated into the platform.

Although the client designed the network infrastructure, Peerless Automation rebuilt the head-end, recommissioned the existing cabling and integrated the new installation into a professionally organised equipment rack. Every cable was terminated, tested and documented to provide a robust foundation for the entire system.
